Medication Dispensing Requirement - Sept 1

Just wanted to give you a quick update on what we are planning, pending some answers to some questions others are asking on behalf of the health departments.

Questions we are waiting on for final determination on our process:

1. Are both 'administered' drugs AND 'dispensed' drugs being sent?

2. If 'administered' drugs are sent, are we also sending Immunizations?

3. Are confidential FP patients' dispenses to be sent?

4. Are OTC dispenses going to be sent?

We plan to create a dispense record in PatTrac that automatically creates an HL7 record with the dispense information they are looking for. We will configure the workflow to automatically send those messages at a specific time at night to send the day's dispense records to the secure FTP server set up by RxGov/CRISP.

We will provide a daily report to review the dispenses at the end of the day to ensure the data is correct for evening transmission.  This would require all orders and dispenses to be entered before the report is run.

If a patient "opts out" of the data transfer, we will determine how to flag those clients.
